For couples who prefer beautiful gardens, gentle rainforest walks, charming villages and easy-going local experiences.

Not every Hinterland escape needs hiking boots and a packed itinerary, sometimes the best way to explore is slowly.

Spend your mornings wandering beautiful gardens, your afternoons discovering rainforest, local villages and iconic Sunshine Coast attractions, and your evenings back at Lovestone with a glass of wine, a warm spa bath and nowhere else you need to be.

Day One: Gardens, Birds and Rainforest

  • Morning: Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World
Wander through the gardens, enjoy the spectacular Hinterland views and experience the colourful aviaries.
  • Afternoon: Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
Explore the Rainforest Discovery Centre and take an easy stroll beneath the rainforest canopy before stopping to admire the Glass House Mountains.
  • Evening: Back to Lovestone
Return to your private cottage, pour a glass of wine and settle in for an evening by the fire.

Day Two: A Slow Day in Montville

  • Morning: Explore Montville Village
Forget the schedule and wander. Browse galleries, boutiques and quirky local stores, find the famous clock shops and stop somewhere for a long coffee or lunch.
  • Afternoon: Baroon Pocket Dam
Pack a picnic and spend the afternoon beside the water, surrounded by the peaceful Hinterland landscape.
  • Evening: Spa, wine & rainforest
Head home to Lovestone, run the spa bath and let someone else worry about what time it is.

Day Three: A Little Sunshine Coast Nostalgia

  • Morning: The Ginger Factory, Yandina
Explore the gardens, browse the shops and embrace a little nostalgia with the historic train and attractions.
  • Afternoon: The Big Pineapple & Wildlife HQ
Finish your road trip with one of Queensland’s most iconic landmarks and a visit to Wildlife HQ before heading home.

The Hinterland, at your own pace

The beauty of staying in Montville is that you don’t have to choose between exploring and relaxing. Spend a few hours discovering somewhere new, then retreat back into the rainforest, no strenuous hikes, no racing between attractions, and no trying to squeeze ten things into one day. Just beautiful places, good food, nature and plenty of time together.
